The Acreage Branch is a 30,000 square feet facility on Orange Blvd. just east of Seminole Pratt Whitney Road. It is the first LEED certified county building.
The branch has a variety of materials including CDs, DVDs, new arrivals, books, newspapers and magazines. There are four private study rooms and a larger group study room. Express check out stations for fast, efficient service. There are two-themed areas designed especially for children and young adults with ample room for materials and comfortable seating. Study carrels and lounge seating areas throughout the branch. Special features include a family restroom with child-sized facilities.
The branch also features an Art in Public Places light sculpture, “Productive Light,” by Laura Haddad and Tom Drugan. The sculpture includes
a suspended “orange tree” light sculpture, a photovoltaic system, an interactive “sun panel.”
History of the Branch
The Acreage Branch is the first LEED certified county facility. It will open on March 31, 2012.
The Branch has 68 Internet and word processing computers: 54 in the adult area, 12 in the children’s area and 8 in the young adult area. Library catalog computers that are available throughout the building. Laptop computers for training will be provided in the meeting room. Free wireless access is available throughout the building.
Meeting Room Information
The Acreage Branch has 3 meeting rooms – a large room accommodating 165 people, a conference room and a separate room for children’s programs. The facility may be used by government agencies and non-commercial groups when not in use for library functions.
